You may have what is known as “Leaky Gut Syndrome”.
Leaky gut syndrome is a disorder of the intestines affecting its function as an immune system organ. The disorder is mysterious in that there is no definite cause; it is linked to certain factors, but each case is unique. The hallmark of the disorder is intestinal permeability. Leaky gut syndrome is characterized by intestinal hyperpermeability, allowing larger molecules that normally can't be absorbed to be absorbed. This allows substances to get into the bloodstream that should not be in the bloodstream at all. A healthy gut is very selective about what it allows into the body. A leaky gut can release undigested food particles, toxins and bacteria into the bloodstream.
A leaky gut is also characteristic in celiac disease and Crohn's disease. Other causes of leaky gut syndrome are linked to certain drugs, radiation therapy or food allergies. Alcohol use, sugar, common pain relievers, processed foods and any foods you’re sensitive or allergic to can all cause leaky gut. In fact, a single two-week course of an NSAID for pain relief from, say, a strained back or sprained ankle, increases your likelihood of having leaky gut by 75%!
To make matters worse, leaky gut has also been linked to the overgrowth of yeast and bacteria in the intestines. The toxins and germs can pass into the bloodstream and trigger the immune system causing inflammation around the body. Due to the numerous causes of the disorder, it is hard to pinpoint the exact cause, but it is possible to negate the effects of the disorder by changing diet and consuming supplements to repair the damage.
